Today was the first of our tourist days in in Seattle. Went to Buckleys Sports bar for tea last night and got the lowdown on where to go and what to see from our waiter 'JT' As we suspected his recommendation was the Pike street market and waterfront pier and the EMP museum.
The morning started off early with Russ out of bed at 6am ( not the rest of us) for a long walk to stake out the joint. Later we all headed off to the Pike Street Market . Robbo you'll be glad to know that we checked out the ' Fish Chucker' and Russ managed to get some video of the whole goings on.
Lots of beautiful seafood and fresh fruit and veges. Lots of energy but also lots of tourists . Its was on to the pier area which is currently under a huge reconstruction to replace all the underlying wooden support poles as the woodworm or Gribbles as they call them here have finallly eaten enough to make things a bit dangerous.
The area has been there since 1897 whe the first gold ship came from Alaska with a ton of gold on board. That's when things really started to happen in Seattle.
Wandered around for a couple of hours and ended up in Macy's in the town centre which is much like Myers.
Jumped onto the monorail and it was off to the other end of town to the EMP ( Experience Music Project) Museum - lots of stuff including history of Nivarna, Jimmy Hendrix, the guitar, Chuck Jones, Seattle Seahawks( Gridiron) massive big screen playing all sorts of music clips, video games and the sound lab where you could go and play and record musis - amazing place.
Legs were just about done by now so back to the apartment via the french patisserie downstairs to buy something with choux pastry and raspberries. Yum
Will chill out for a while and then it will be back out to see what other experiences we can find
